June 2024 – I cannot believe it myself. We have a small team working on our Canadian presence at AirVenture, so I’m well aware how fast time is flying. How can you help us prepare?

If you’re flying into Oshkosh, we’re looking for one more aircraft to park in front of the Canadian Pavilion. It doesn’t have to be for the whole week; we can make it work for a few days, but we do have to make arrangements with EAA ahead of time. Although Kyle Fowler will be performing in the air show, unfortunately, his aircraft will not be parked with us this year. But we have the next best thing: he will sign autographs at our Canadian Pavilion on Tuesday and Friday afternoon!

We are looking for volunteers to help at our venue. You only have to sign up for a half-day during AirVenture, and a lunch and T-shirt are provided. Please email me, chair.eaacc@gmail.com to sign up! Talk to anyone who volunteered last year – you’ll meet fellow Canadian aviation enthusiasts, and it’s a lot of fun! Please indicate in your email if you are bilingual.

Camping at Little Canada
EAA has provided us with the final instructions for our Little Canada camping area. It is similar to chapter camping. If you want to participate, you have a few decisions to make:

  1. If you have a CAMPER or RV and want to camp within the Little Canada camping area, your total will be a flat payment of CA$450 which will cover your camping to arrive any day after July 12 and depart by July 28. It is basically equivalent to nine days of camping fees. So, if you plan on staying nine days or more, it’s appealing because it guarantees a spot will be saved, ready for you to camp with your fellow Canadians, whenever you arrive. You will not be refunded if you depart early. Please send an email to Phil at chapters.eaacc@gmail.com and send an e-transfer for CA$450 to airventure.eaacc@gmail.com by June 5. The reason it must be done this way is because EAA is requiring us to prepay in advance to guarantee the space. We will also need details about your camping unit as each camper will be allotted a standard 20-foot-by-30-foot spot (or slightly larger if needed to accommodate a larger camper) so we need to know if you need more than 20-foot-by-30-foot to accommodate your camping unit.

  2. If you have a TENT and want to camp within the Little Canada camping area, assuming you will camp less than nine days, you will pay EAA directly for daily camping at approximately CA$50 per day, and of course, you will be reimbursed if you depart early. Please send an email to Phil at chapters.eaacc@gmail.com to relay your plan, and he will fit you in amongst our campers. Deadline for this is July 5.

If that is too early for you to know your plans, we urge you to email Phil as soon as you do know, and he will do his best to fit you in. It was a lot of fun last year with all of us “Canucks!”

If your entourage includes a tent, plus a dining structure and a vehicle or two, you will have to fall into category No. 1 above, with the camper/RV arrangements, to ensure enough space has been saved for you.

I hope I explained this as simply as possible. If not, feel free to email Phil, phone him at 613-790-4929, or contact me by email chair.eaacc@gmail.com or call me at 204-345-3750.
