Space Week and Our Wonderful Volunteers

By Bob Cambell, EAA 217428, Museum Director

October 2015 - A few weeks ago the EAA AirVenture Museum held a weeklong Space Week program that was full of events, activities, speakers, movies, and more. Over 1,100 visitors came to take in the festivities of Space Week.

The success of the week falls on the shoulders of the EAA staff and the many docents and volunteers who gave their time and talent to the event. We recognize the many hours our docents and volunteers put in at the various EAA events, especially at AirVenture.

Volunteering is important to EAA for numerous reasons that benefit the organization, community, and volunteers themselves. When someone donates a handful of time, the difference made is tremendous and shapes an organization and the community for the better while the experience improves the person who donated the time.

Being a docent and volunteering is what makes a community, because it brings people together to work on a goal. Community life is improved by serving others and lending a helping hand to get a job done more effectively. Volunteers are kind enough to give up a few hours of their time and put it into their community, serving others without expecting to get anything in return.

So a big thanks to all the docents and volunteers for giving your time and talents to the Space Week program, as well as the many other programs and activities here at EAA. Without you we cannot do what we do!
