Volunteer Resources for AirVenture Oshkosh 2018

June 2018 - Over the past 60-plus years, EAA’s annual gathering has evolved from a small meeting of aircraft and aviators into a grand, weeklong celebration filled with exciting, amazing events known as EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, the World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration. As volunteers, our goal is to ensure our more than 500,000 guests have a great experience while they are here, and that there are plenty of resources to help achieve that. Here are some of the best ones.

AirVenture Website

The event’s website provides information on features and attractions, news and multimedia, scheduling, and other resources to help people plan their trip to Oshkosh. Fly-in information helps prepare for your arrival to AirVenture.

AirVenture Mobile App

In 2014, EAA launched a new mobile app, for Apple and Android phones, to provide a wealth of information conveniently on mobile devices. Our staff is putting the finishing touches on this year’s version, so be on the lookout for more information soon on when the updated AirVenture 2018 mobile app will be available.

AirVenture Map

A map is available to all volunteers to help assist attendees in finding their way through the AirVenture grounds. Keep a copy of the map handy because you will likely refer to it several times a day. Here are a few things to keep in mind when using the map: Its orientation is as one would look from the main gate. That means north is to the left of the map instead of at the top of the map. The map can also be found in the AirVenture Visitor & Camper’s Guide.

The Official AirVenture Visitor & Camper’s Guide

The Visitor & Camper’s Guide (known in prior years as the Info Guide) includes information about visitor services, emergency procedures, shopping, food options, exhibitor locations, and detailed area maps. These are available to all volunteers as well as all attendees.

AirVenture Today

The free AirVenture Today newspaper is a great resource for the most up-to-date daily schedules. Volunteers distribute the paper to newspaper boxes located throughout the grounds by 7 a.m. daily, plus they’re handed out to arriving guests at the admissions gates throughout the day.

Mobile Device Alerts

To receive features and attractions alerts (maximum eight per day) via text message on your mobile device, simply text OSHFUN to 69050. To be alerted of severe weather warnings or other safety issues, text OSHALERT to 69050 (available for United States and its territories only). Unsubscribe at any time by texting STOP to 69050.

Social Media

EAA loves to share what’s going on in the organization throughout the year and especially during AirVenture. Follow all the convention highlights on social media by using the hashtag #OSH18, and be sure to connect with us directly on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.

EAA Radio

EAA Radio is live at 1210 AM and 96.5 FM, as well as online at www.EAARadio.net and via the AirVenture app. Listen for information on features and events, as well as updates on the weather and other important visitor information.

These are just some of the many resources available for volunteers to assist attendees during AirVenture. Smile, have fun, and enjoy yourself at Oshkosh!
