July 2024 – We have continued working to make our Canada Pavilion at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh the central location for information on Canada’s aviation industry. Stop by to chat with representatives from COPA (Canadian Owners and Pilots Association), Transport Canada, Global for C-Plan Insurance, Aero Sport Power/Progressive Air Group, Wing Armor, and Pegasus.

We have submitted our schedule to EAA, so it will be posted on EAA’s website soon, but I can tell you that we have presentations that will encompass updates on Canadian advocacy, a Transport Canada Q&A, filing CANPASS and eAPIS, historical presentations on the Lancaster, the Royal Canadian Air Force, and the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. There will be informative sessions on flying to and from Canada, Canadian airspace, ultralights, de-icing, homebuilding lessons learned, and a Canadian guide to self-flying to Africa.

Phil, our national chapters coordinator, will host a gathering for Canadian chapter leaders. If you want to activate and grow your chapter, or you are interested in finding out how to start a chapter in your Canadian community, be sure to come to this event on Wednesday. This forum will encourage the sharing of ideas and lessons learned with fellow chapters.

If you are in need of an approved pilot recurrency safety seminar, we will have that too! COPA will deliver a Transport Canada-approved session at both the beginning and the end of the week. Kyle Fowler will sign autographs on Tuesday and Friday, a meet and greet with a Snowbird will be on Wednesday, and our ice cream social will be Thursday afternoon. Don’t forget that if you want to attend Friday’s Canadian breakfast with the Snowbirds, you need to pick up tickets from us at the Canada Pavilion.

Stop by in the morning for a fresh cup of coffee, or a cold refill of water in the afternoon, or drop in to use free Wi-Fi and cool off in the air conditioning! I hope you’ll come to our EAA Canadian Council kick-off BBQ, on Sunday at 5:30 p.m., at our little Canada camping area.

We have a few more half-day slots open for volunteers. If you’re thinking that you “don’t know anyone or anything,” and you have nothing to offer as a volunteer, don’t think that! It’s very easy. Lunch and a volunteer T-shirt will be provided, and you’ll meet many aviation enthusiasts from Canada, and the rest of the world!

Send me an email at chair.eaacc@gmail.com if you’re interested to volunteer with us.

See you in Oshkosh!
