There are multiple improvements on the grounds for EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024, many of them based on suggestions from attendees in 2023 and previous years.
Among the upgrades in 2024:
Along the flightlineMore water bottle filling locations! There are additional bottle fillers at each of the 13 hydration stations on the flightline. There’s also signage at each station to increase the visibility this year. In addition, those locations are more visible on the visitor map, (look for the blue icons) so that they can be more easily spotted.
Cooling stations! A new feature in three locations on the flightline are cooling stations sponsored by GE Aerospace, a great relief for those hot days at AirVenture. A cool mist is available at the touch of a button at these stations, located at (look for the blue mist icons on the map):
- Wittman Road, just north of Homebuilders Headquarters
- Wittman Road, just north of the Ultralights area
- Knapp Street, between the Wearhouse and Four Corners
Lost and Found finds new home: The Lost and Found building is in a new location in 2024. This volunteer-run area is now located on Knapp Street, just east of Convention Headquarters (Exhibit Hangar A).
WomenVenture Center: The home for WomenVenture activities, including forums, exhibitors, and women aviation authors, is now along Knapp Street, between the forums area and EAA Press Headquarters.
Camp Scholler
New access road and bus route: The expanded Camp Scholler camping area just north of Ripple Road will feature a paved Aspen Road and extended Doolittle Road that connect with Ripple, allowing easier access for camping units. In addition, a new bus route will bring people from that area to the Camp Scholler bus turnaround near Theater in the Woods, giving better access to the flightline.
More improved campsites! EAA-member demand for these improved sites with electric and water hookups continues to grow, so more than 100 additional such sites have been added in the west section of Camp Scholler.
Air traffic
July 25 departures: This year’s FAA NOTICE includes a limit on Fisk arrivals until 8 a.m. CDT on Thursday, July 25, ONLY to allow departures from Wittman Regional Airport. This will help alleviate departure backups on what is often the busiest day for air traffic during AirVenture.
