Vintage Announces WWI Encampment at AirVenture 2018
July 12, 2018 - The Vintage Aircraft Association has announced that nine World War I-era aircraft will participate in a re-created WWI encampment in the Vintage area during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2018.
Currently scheduled to attend are a Fokker D.VII, Sopwith Snipe, Sopwith Pup, Albatros D.Va, DH.4, Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5A, Sopwith Camel, Bleriot XI, and a Standard J-1. Six of these airplanes are replicas, many with original engines, and three are restorations of the original aircraft. The WWI aircraft encampment will be on the Vintage flight-line beginning at Row 50, which is just south of Boeing Plaza. An engine run-up will be conducted with at least one of the antique airplanes at the encampment Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
In addition, a small number of the WWI aircraft will be flying off the grass between the P4 and P5 taxiways on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The following is the scheduled list of WWI-related events happening during AirVenture.

Tuesday, July 24
11 a.m. – Vintage Interview Circle: Kermit Weeks and his 1917 German Albatros
All day – Sopwith Pup, Sopwith Snipe, S.E.5A, DH.4 at Boeing Plaza for RAF centennial celebration
Wednesday, July 25
1:30 p.m. – WWI Engine Run: Sopwith Pup (in Vintage at WWI encampment)
Thursday, July 26
1:30 p.m. – WWI Engine Run: DH.4 (in Vintage at WWI encampment)
Friday, July 27
11 a.m. – Vintage Interview Circle: Kermit Weeks and his Sopwith Pup
