Adapt to Fly Scholarship Available Through EAA

October 14, 2021 – Every day, EAA staff and its volunteer aeromedical experts take calls and emails from members asking medical questions. In many cases, someone will mention a specific disability, and express skepticism about whether or not they would be able to learn to fly. While there are some conditions that do outright disqualify a person from becoming a pilot, many of our members are surprised when we tell them that several can be overcome. EAA is passionate about helping people find their way to flying in the left seat. Whether through direct help to members or policy work with the FAA, our staff and volunteer aeromedical experts work hard to keep pilots in the air. We want to ensure that every pilot who is medically fit can gain certification to fly an aircraft, which is why EAA is pleased to announce a new scholarship opportunity. The Adapt to Fly Scholarship Fund will help those with disabilities discover the world of aviation by awarding $5,000 through EAA’s Flight Training Scholarship Program.

Flying is fun, adventurous, and challenging. It is also incredibly rewarding. Learning to fly and overcoming the challenges associated with it can be a transformational experience for people and help build self-confidence. EAA’s scholarships are supported by dozens of passionate donors, benefactors, and others who “pay it forward.” In all, EAA awards more than $1 million in aviation scholarship money via various programs each year.

Eligibility
