Gone West: Tony Buechler

October 10, 2019 - Retired EAA President/Board Chairman Tom Poberezny passed along news of the sudden passing of Lifetime EAA and Warbirds member Dr. Tony Buechler, 67, who was very well known in the warbird community as the owner and pilot of the P-51 Mustang Petie 2nd that was seen at Oshkosh every year. He was dedicated to the preservation of World War II history and supported veterans of all wars.

"Tony was a unique person; compassionate and generous with his time, using his airplane for a wide range of activities including philanthropic purposes," Tom said. "Everything Tony did was to the highest standards, never compromising professionalism and perfection as a doctor, a pilot, and an aircraft owner."

Tony is survived by his wife, Kris, his daughter, Brittani, and son-in-law, Herbert Weiss.

There will be a memorial celebration at Stein's Aircraft Services-Waukesha County Airport, on Saturday, October 26, from 1 to 4 p.m.
