August 13, 2015 - While EAA continues to pursue every avenue toward an expedient and effective solution to the burdensome aeromedical certification system, hundreds of thousands of pilots navigate the process every year and EAA is here to help. Call 800-564-6322 to be connected with an EAA specialist who can help with common questions and has access to a network of volunteer AMEs who help advise members.
Several common cases are now covered by the FAA’s Certificates an AME Can Issue (CACI) program, which EAA’s Aeromedical Advisory Council helped establish. This system streamlines the process and eliminates the need for a special issuance if basic requirements are met. EAA’s advisory program can help members navigate the process and can assist on more difficult special issuance matters.
Medical certification can be a major time, money, and hassle factor for pilots. EAA continues to work every day for comprehensive reforms, but also makes every effort to ensure that every member who can obtain a medical certificate can receive one with as little stress as possible under the present system.
