PPE Donations Requested to Assist Healthcare Workers
April 2, 2020 - Recently we were contacted by an EAA member and Bearhawk pilot, who also happens to be an emergency medicine physician in the northwest U.S., with an important request he thought EAA members might be able to assist with. Due to the COVID-19 crisis across the country, local hospitals are beginning to run short of important supplies such as N95 masks and other protective equipment, which in turn leaves doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff potentially exposed to the virus.
His request was simple: If you are a homebuilder and have protective gear that could be of use by your local hospital or clinic, please consider donating it. It might mean delaying your aircraft paint job for a few months, but the staff at your hometown hospital would certainly appreciate it. Many hospitals already have channels to donate supplies such as these. In addition, websites such as getusppe.org and projectN95.org also take donations.
EAA members have always been known for their willingness to step forward, whether that's within their chapter, airport, or community. During this time, even the smallest help will make a big difference.
