First Two Ray Aviation Scholarship Fund Recipients Announced
January 31, 2019 - Nicole Blount, EAA 1304032, and Max Davidson, EAA 1300947, were recognized as the first two Ray Scholars last weekend. They will both receive up to $10,000 for their flight training expenses through the generosity of the Ray Foundation and the Ray Aviation Scholarship Fund.
The Ray Aviation Scholarship Fund is managed by EAA and administered through the EAA chapter network. EAA Chapter 1 in Flabob, California, and EAA Chapter 1240 in Sebring, Florida, selected Max and Nicole, respectively, making them the first two EAA chapters to participate in the program.
Nicole said she believes her heart belongs in the pilot’s seat, and that she never believed she would be able to take part in flight earlier in her life.
“I have been introduced to the aerospace world through my high school,” Nicole said. “This is where my love for aviation has deepened; a love that is unlikely to lose its passion and vigor. … I think that learning to fly will broaden my opportunities in life, as well as grant me richer experiences."
Chapters interested in applying to take part in the program can apply at www.EAA.org/RayScholars. The chapter application will remain open through February 11.
