New EAA Chapter Forming in Lima, Peru
August 2015 - Usually when you come to Oshkosh, one of the must-do items is to add to your T-shirt collection. The founding members of the new EAA Chapter 1572 based in Lima, Peru, traveled to Oshkosh and befriended us by hand-delivering some of their red chapter 1572 T-shirts!
The gifts continued with patches, Peruvian sombreros, boleros (look it up), and several jars of algarrobina, a syrupy extract of the black carob tree, which is native to Peru. Algarrobina is a natural sweetener, with a rich taste and molasses-like consistency that make it popular as a topping for fruit salads and for use in drinks such as smoothies.
The Lima chapter is very active, flying, maintaining, and restoring aircraft such as Sinuses, Zeniths, Cessnas, and ultralights. Welcome to the EAA family!
