Young Eagles Online Registration Update - July 2024
July 2024 – The rebuilding of the Young Eagles online registration tool is progressing quite nicely. The project faced a bit of a setback in April and May when David Leiting, Eagles Program manager, was out on parental leave for the birth of his daughter. Nonetheless, the project has reached the point of field testing by a small group of EAA chapters in a beta test group.
Updated Timeline
Due to the delay in the project, this launch has been shifted back two weeks. The shutdown of YoungEaglesDay.org has also been pushed back. EAA wants to ensure that a full two months of testing is completed before flipping the switch.
- September 3, 2024 – Go-live of new online registration tool: EAA Chapter Events
- Beginning on this date, new events will not be able to be scheduled on YoungEaglesDay.org.
- November 4, 2024 – Shutdown of YoungEaglesDay.org
Profile Migration
The new online registration tool (EAA Chapter Events) will now be synced with users’ primary EAA.org profile. All the user profiles will be migrated from Young Eagles Day to EAA Chapter Events by EAA’s IT team. This will create several changes that users will need to be aware of:
- Each user will be required to have their own unique email address.
- The email associated with a user’s Young Eagles Day account will be the email/username for both EAA.org and EAA Chapter Events (EAAChapters.org)
- The user’s EAA.org password will be used for EAA.org and EAAChapters.org
- If an EAA.org account does not exist, one will automatically be created, along with a temporary password.
- If you use different email addresses for Young Eagles Day and EAA.org, you may end up with multiple accounts tied to your membership. If this happens, EAA’s membership team can consolidate your accounts upon request, but either can be used to access your membership record, benefits, and trainings on EAA.org.
An important note on profiles: to have a profile on the new EAA Chapter Events tool, users must be EAA members.
Phase 2 Development
In an effort to focus strictly on Young Eagles rallies and basic functionality, a number of features were pushed to Phase 2 development. This development will take place prior to the shutdown of Young Eagles Day. Phase 2 development will include the following:
- Integration of new chapter event types including Flying Start, Young Eagles Build and Fly, and Young Eagles Workshops.
- Development of event reports of chapter events.
- Updating the email templates automatically sent by the system.
- Addressing bugs and enhancements identified during beta testing.
