Attendees Defy Weather to Attend Oshkosh IMC/VMC Clubs Meeting

January 15, 2020 - A regional EAA IMC/VMC clubs meeting was held in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on January 11 despite some concern about a potentially nasty winter storm. The area eventually avoided the worst of the weather, but flights had been canceled and plans needed to be changed.

Although the weather made travel tricky for many, IMC program manager Radek Wyrzykowski said nearly 100 total participants still made it to Oshkosh, with several finding other methods of reaching the EAA Aviation Center.

“Many of [the participants] canceled their arrivals by air because of the weather, to drive, in some cases from Minneapolis, the day before and stay in a hotel just to be here,” Radek said.

Once all of the participants arrived, Radek presented EAA® Proficiency365® during a general session, followed by four breakout sessions on IMC and VMC topics. After getting a bevy of positive comments from those who attended, Radek said the hope was to build on the experience and make it a tradition.
