Request a ChapterBlast Email for Your Chapter Event

June 2021 – Your annual fly-in is coming up and you’re looking for ways to get the word out. You have an amazing speaker lined up for your meeting next month and you’re really hoping for a good turnout. Your pancake breakfast/Young Eagles rally is scheduled and you’d like to see some new faces there. You really want to promote these events to folks in your area but you’re not sure what else you can do. You’ve already put them on the EAA Calendar of Events. You’ve printed off posters and hung them around the airport and other places around town. You’ve announced them in your newsletter. You think it would be really nice if you could get email addresses for EAA members in your area and directly email them about these events but you know that EAA is not able to give out email addresses due to CAN-SPAM laws. What can you do?

While it is true that we cannot give out email lists to chapters, we have created a work-around to this in the form of our ChapterBlast emails. These are emails created and sent on your behalf to EAA members within roughly 75 miles of your event. To request one, please complete the online form which provides us all of the information needed to create the email. ChapterBlasts should only be requested for chapter events and should be submitted at least 30 days prior to your event to allow us ample time to create and schedule your email. We typically send them out about ten days before your event.

Because each chapter is limited to only three ChapterBlasts per year, you should give thought to which events you use them for. We recommend using them for higher profile events where you can be prepared to recruit new members. The idea behind them is to make EAA members in your area aware of your existence and promote the cool activities you are hosting! EAA members are the low-hanging fruit when it comes to recruiting new chapter members as they only need to pay chapter dues in order to become chapter members in good standing. When you choose to use a ChapterBlast to promote an event, make sure to put your best foot forward and be prepared to welcome new members!

Using a ChapterBlast is one of the easiest ways to gain a chapter recognition point while also promoting your chapter to folks who may not have heard about it previously. You are encouraged to take advantage of this benefit for your events this summer and fall and see your membership grow!
