The Most Comfortable Chairs at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2021

November 2020 – After a quiet 2020 summer with little chapter activity, EAA Chapter 135 in Ankeny/Des Moines, Iowa, decided to do something, anything! Having heard of the EAA program where chapters build and donate an Adirondack chair to the Blue Barn at AirVenture, Chapter 135 decided to make furniture. Using repurposed materials, chapter members built three chairs. On October 22, 2020, chapter member Stewart Rauh, EAA 1003213, with his wife Diane delivered the completed chairs to EAA. Upon delivery, Stewart explained that the 800-mile round trip was well worth the effort, as his annual trek to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh could not happen, and this was a great opportunity to see the newest exhibits in the EAA' Aviation Museum. Stewart also explained that the chapter Adirondack chair project greatly helped the chapter stay active in a time when traditional chapter activities were not happening.
