Chapter 88 in Wichita Gets New Digs

By Brett Hahn

November 20, 2015 - EAA Chapter 88, based at Jabara Airport northeast of Wichita, Kansas, never had a permanent chapter home. President Bill Lindsay made it a high priority to find a home for the chapter the minute he took office last January. Because of Chapter 88’s efforts, it now calls the iconic Piper Air Service building home.

“I can’t express how excited we are here,” Bill said. “This has been a long time coming, and I want give a thumbs-up to our members from Chapter 88 for supporting this, and want to thank the city of Wichita and especially Victor White, manager of the Wichita Airport Authority, for helping Chapter 88 to achieve our dream.”

The new Chapter 88 clubhouse is 4,300 square feet and has lots of room for chapter meetings and outreach activities. In addition, Midwest Aviation, the FBO on the field, has been welcoming and has offered ramp space and hangar space for Chapter 88 events in the coming years, such as Young Eagles rallies, fly-ins, and pancake breakfasts.

Chapter 88 has already started sprucing up the place, cleaning, painting, and updating the restrooms. Aviation art is being gathered for decorations.

Bill added, “We could not have done this without all the hard work from Chapter 88 VP Mike Flynn; past president Doug Range; members Bob and Judy Blanton, Keith Rhea, and Bill Dakan; Young Eagles coordinator Judy Range; and secretary Larry Keyser. Don’t hesitate to fly in or drive in and come visit Chapter 88!”
