Variety of events set to close out 2023 at EAA Aviation Museum
Schedule includes guest speakers, aviation activities, and holiday celebration
EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — (September 28, 2023) — As the colder months start to approach, the EAA Aviation Museum has several events lined up for all ages to enjoy:
Story Time continues in October with a theme of space travel. On October 5 and 19 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., EAA Aviation Museum educators will read a story aloud and lead an accompanying activity for children and their caregivers. Story Time is designed for children ages 3-5, but all are welcome.
Space Day returns on Saturday, October 7 with activities to celebrate all things space including compressed air rockets, re-entry capsule design, and a spacesuit challenge. Three members of the Polaris Dawn mission crew are this year’s featured presenters: mission commander Jared Isaacman, mission pilot Scott Poteet, and mission specialist and medical officer Anna Menon.
Aviation Adventure Speaker Series resumes on October 19 with Karin Ficek, a UW Health Med Flight pilot who will share her experience flying challenging missions as well as being a part of the first all-female crew.
Aircraft history is the theme for the November 2 and 16 Story Time events. The activities to coincide with the story will be airplane puppets and paper tool belts respectively.
The November 16 Speaker Series will feature a panel discussion with former members of the Blue Angels. The group will discuss what it was like training to fly with one of the world’s most prestigious aerobatic teams.
Christmas in the Air will be held on Saturday, December 2. The free open house event is headlined by Santa arriving by helicopter along with performances by local music, dance, and choral groups, and a holiday-themed scavenger hunt. Free cookies and milk will be available for all attendees.
The final two Story Time events of 2023 take place on December 7 and 21 with a focus on winter flight. Children will be able to create their own ornaments at both events.
