Aviation adventures await at EAA Girls on the Fly program on October 26
Free event returns for girls in 6th through 12th grade
EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — (October 8, 2024) — Girls in grades 6 through 12 will have the chance to channel their inner aviator as EAA hosts the fall session of the Girls on the Fly event on Saturday, October 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the EAA Education Center.
The free, all-day event is open to girls in 6th through 12th grade. Girls on the Fly is designed to introduce them to opportunities in aviation as either a career or hobby. Planned activities include hands-on experiences with aviation technology, flight simulators, as well as Young Eagle flights if weather allows.
“Becoming a pilot is just one way that someone can pursue aviation as a career or hobby,” said Cindi Pokorny, Educator in EAA’s Youth Education Center. “Girls on the Fly aims to show girls some of the other opportunities and pathways available through hands-on activities and interacting with other women in aviation to see if this is the right path for them.”
Girls on the Fly is supported by Air Wisconsin Airlines, Airbus, DATC, and FliteTest. Online pre-registration is required and is limited to 60 attendees. Lunch will also be served for free. More information on the event can be found at EAA.org/GirlsOnTheFly.
