Homeschool Half Days

Experience homeschool away form home at the EAA Aviation Museum. Explore our collection of more than 200 historitc aircraft and engage in hands-on learning. Registration is required 24 hours prior to the event.

September - History

How did humans ever learn to fly? Explore our earliest attempts at flight with a tour of the EAA Aviation Museum. Then build and fly your own simple flight apparatus.

October - Space

What makes a successful rocket launch? Celebrate Space Month at the EAA Aviation Museum by building and launching your own rocket. (Please note: Rocket launches will occur off EAA property due to flight restrictions near the airport. Parents/Guardians will be responsible for transportation to rocket launch location.)

November - Communication

How do pilots communicate? Discover how pilots use radios, radar, and other methods to communicate with each other and the air traffic control tower.

January - Forces

How do forces control aircraft? Explore the forces of flight to understand how aircraft can leave the ground, move through the sky, and eventually come back down safely.

February - Fabrication

How do you build an airplane? Peek into aircraft fabrication by learning to rivet, use composite materials, and so much more!

March - Piloting

What does it take to be a pilot? Spend your afternoon as a pilot learning how to plan a flight, reduce unnecessary risks, and take a simulated flight.

April - Lift

How do aircraft take flight? Think like an engineer to build a deeper understanding of the force of lift. Build, test, and modify airfoils with the EAA’s very own wind tunnels.

May – Take Flight!

Wrap up your aviation year by taking an unforgettable flight and playing some fun aviation-themed games. Young Eagles flights will be available for students ages 8 to 17 (weather permitting.) Registration for this event is free and will open in early April.
