Newest VMC Club at Palm Beach County Park Airport
December 2017 - Pilots from around Palm Beach County Park Airport in Lake Worth, Florida, gathered at the Stellar Aviation meeting room on Monday, December 11, to inaugurate a new EAA/VMC club at that airport. It is just one of the many VMC clubs being started by EAA members.
At the meeting, which was initiated and sponsored by Stellar Aviation, prospective members were given the opportunity to interact with Radek Wyrzykowski, IMC Club founder and EAA/IMC/VMC program manager. VMC Club is designed to promote safety and proficiency among general aviation pilots.
Jon Roberts, EAA Lifetime 1188914, is one of the original founding members of the IMC club in Norwood, Massachusetts, formed in 2010. He will host the new chapter as a VMC club program coordinator. Jon was an IMC Club board member from 2010 to 2015 and is a passionate private pilot. His passion and interest in aviation dates back to his teenage years when he was visiting Norwood Memorial Airport with his father.
“Thank you, Jon, and all who inaugurated this meeting, for your ongoing commitment to aviation safety and your invitation. You created a unique comradery for proficiency and safety. It was a pleasure to be here,” Radek said after the meeting.
One of the primary goals of VMC Club is to increase pilot confidence and proficiency. The club was established as a learning resource for pilots and for students. Monthly meetings are held to help pilots and students build and maintain their skills, and to share stories and tips from their fellow pilots.
