History Takes Flight

With a collection of more than 200 historic aircraft, the EAA Aviation Museum is a year-round destination, combining aviation's past with the promise of its exciting future.

In 1980, William J. Zeigler donated a collection of 200 glass plate negatives to the EAA Library. The subject matter of these photographs is pre-1914 German aircraft. A few other images depict American, French and English airplanes.

The major portion of these images remain unidentified and therefore not cataloged. Contact prints were made from some of the negatives. A brief article about the collection appeared in the April 1994 issue of Vintage Airplane magazine.
