Flight Training Goes Virtual During Spirit of Aviation Week

July 16, 2020 – The EAA Pilot Proficiency Center is bringing some of the same valuable training you'd receive during AirVenture to your home during Spirit of Aviation Week on July 21-25.

Learn about a variety of essential topics, including procedures, aviation tools, tips and tricks, weather planning, and the use of charts with Tech Talks. Sign up to train with a CFI using your Redbird flight simulator while flying an EAA® Proficiency365® scenario. You can even fly the famous Fisk arrival into Oshkosh with your home flight simulator — complete with wing rocks, real ATC, and lots of other aircraft!

"The Spirit of Aviation will rise next week just as it has for the last 50 years at Oshkosh," said Radek Wyrzykowski, EAA's manager of flight proficiency. "The Pilot Proficiency Center team has worked overtime to bring the same quality simulation mission exercises and scenarios featured at Oshkosh to your Redbird or at a select flight training center near you. We will connect you with experienced volunteer flight instructors from SAFE and NAFI who have trained with proven simulation missions and state-of-the-art remote training tools."

Flight training is just one area that is going online during the five-day online aviation fest that encompasses more than 170 scheduled events, with streamed and on-demand content from nearly every facet of aviation, with a focus on educational, informational, and entertaining moments. EAA's special interest groups will also be heavily involved, bringing highlights that include homebuilts, warbirds, vintage, aerobatics, ultralights, and much more at EAAtogether.org.

More information on Pilot Proficiency Center activities and the complete schedule are available at EAAtogether.org/PPC. It is sponsored by Hartzell Propeller, Redbird Flight Simulations, Bose, and Jeppesen, with support from the National Association of Flight Instructors, Society of Aviation and Flight Educators, National Air Traffic Controllers Association, Cloud Ahoy, Community Aviation, Mindstar Aviation, PilotEdge, and the University of Maine at Augusta.
