Honor Flight Video Released by American Airlines
EAA AirVenture 2010 featured “Salute to Veterans,” a weeklong series of events including an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., for Wisconsin veterans. In partnership with American Airlines, the Northeast Wisconsin hub of the Honor Flight Network, and EAA, 80 veterans boarded “Flagship Liberty,” an American Airlines 737, on AeroShell Square Thursday, July 30, and flew to Washington, D.C., to visit the World War II Memorial.
“It was exciting for American to be part of this year’s EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, and to have the opportunity to showcase our support for our troops, veterans, and their families,” said Captain Steve Blankenship, Managing Director of Veterans Initiatives for American Airlines, in a story on American’s website. “It is a privilege to honor these men and women who have so selflessly served our country.”
Sport Aviation columnist Lauran Paine Jr. also joined the flight and found it was a day filled with emotion. He filed this observance when he returned.
