Family Flightfest and Hops & Props
By Janine Diana, EAA Lifetime 1082064, EAA VP of Human Resources
Special thank you to all the Volunteers that helped make Familyflight Fest and Hops & Props a huge success! These events were held in the EAA AirVenture Museum in March and are part of EAA's efforts to welcome the general public into the museum and share the experience and passion for aviation.
In addition to welcoming the general public into the museum and sharing the world of aviation, Hop & Props is also a fundraising event where all the proceeds go to supporting various museum events. We had over 59 volunteers logging 218.5 hours on March 9, assisting with event set-up, selling raffle tickets, and greeting and welcoming over 1,500 attendees.
In addition to a little beer tasting, attendees were seen posing for pictures in front of numerous historic artifacts and reading and learning more about aviation.
EAA holds a number of events in the museum throughout the year. On Thursday, April 18, Jeff Skiles Lifetime #336120, EAA vice president of chapter and youth education will be hosting a Lecture Series on Flying the North Atlantic. Follow the trail of early aviators traversing the far North Atlantic air route as Skiles recounts his journey from Toronto to Switzerland in a rare Junkers Ju 52 tri-motor. The lecture will be held in the museum's SkyScape Theater starting at 7 p.m. and is free of charge to EAA members. Non-members can purchase a daily admission pass. Immediately following the presentation, guests can enjoy a "beyond-the-ropes" museum tour. For more information visit www.AirVentureMuseum.org.
Stop in and enjoy all that the EAA AirVenture Museum has to offer.
