The Meaning of Volunteering

Jack Pelton

By Janine Diana, VP of Human Resources,
EAA Lifetime #1082064

The definition of Volunteer......."a person who performs a service willingly and without pay". EAA has been blessed with so many volunteers that have dedicated years and years, creating hours and hours of memories while volunteering to support our mission by encouraging participation in aviation. Many have stories and pictures of generations getting involved in volunteering at EAA.

No one better defines the role of Volunteer than Jack Pelton, EAA's Chairman of the Board. In October when the board accepted then-CEO Rod Hightower's resignation, Jack did not hesitate to step up to volunteer his time to set a path for the future direction of EAA. As retired CEO of Cessna, Jack is certainly comfortable leading an organization. He now spends a good deal of time in Oshkosh when he is not on the road speaking and meeting with various constituencies on behalf of EAA. While Jack and his wife Rose call Wichita home, we like to welcome Jack to Oshkosh every time he is here, supporting an organization to which he feels a strong affiliation.

Thanks, Jack, for all your time and dedication volunteering at EAA!

Do you have a story to share about volunteers doing incredible things? We would love to hear from you!

Thanks for all you do!
