Tom Rishovd, EAA 1140416, didn’t know quite what to think when he got a call claiming to be from EAA headquarters earlier this month. He is really glad he called back, though.
Last Friday, Tom made the trip to Oshkosh from his home in Elk River, Minnesota, to pick up the grand prize in the EAA Aircraft Sweepstakes — a fully refurbished 1946 Ercoupe painted in EAA 70th anniversary markings.
“It really is a beautiful airplane,” he said as he looked it over outside EAA’s Kermit Weeks Hangar.
It’s also a great aircraft for a passionate EAA-member pilot such as Tom, who earned his pilot certificate at age 18 while still in high school. He now holds a commercial certificate with multi-engine and seaplane ratings, and is also a CFII.
Be sure to say hi to Tom if you see him flying throughout Minnesota or the upper Midwest. And be ready for the 2025 EAA Aircraft Sweepstakes, which will be announced soon!
