Reduce Hassle Factor of Medical Special Issuances Through New Member Benefit

Special EAA-member rates for assistance to streamline application process

October 24, 2013 - Aviators who need medical certification special issuances from the Federal Aviation Administration can now get assistance to reduce the complexity and hassle through a new program exclusively for EAA members.

EAA has teamed with AirDocs, an aeromedical consulting firm specializing in streamlining special issuance applications for FAA medical certificates, to offer a 10 percent discount on AirDocs' already competitive rates. AirDocs is one of several such businesses throughout the country and is operated by a medical team led by Dr. Gregory Pinnell, an EAA member and volunteer member of EAA's Aeromedical Advisory Council.

EAA members have come to rely on their organization as the source for addressing FAA compliance questions and as a defender of their right to fly. EAA has specialists on staff to address common questions, along with access to an Aeromedical Council consisting of aviation health care experts who volunteer their time to address more complex questions.

The new member benefit through AirDocs complements those existing services, meeting the increasing demand for FAA medical special issuance guidance while providing an exclusive, discounted rate to EAA members.

"AirDocs offers an affordable way to reduce headaches in the aeromedical certification process and get pilots back in the air quickly," said Tom Charpentier, EAA government advocacy specialist and coordinator of EAA's aeromedical counseling program. "Most cases can be handled by AirDocs for about the cost of a flight physical, and all costs are explained up front."

EAA provides its membership with expert aeromedical advice through technical experts on staff and a dedicated volunteer group of physicians who counsel pilots on a "members helping members" basis. For members requiring additional help in obtaining a special issuance or sorting through any other aeromedical issue, the EAA-member discount available through AirDocs provides an affordable option for professional, personalized, and prompt assistance.

EAA members who need aeromedical information or want to find out more about this exclusive EAA member benefit can contact EAA's member services staff at 800-564-6322 or membership@eaa.org.
