Cessna Announces Major Order for Skyhawk Aircraft
September 18, 2013 - Cessna Aircraft Company announced what it describes as one of the largest single orders on record for its venerable Cessna 172 Skyhawk from last week's JetExpo 2013 in Moscow, Russia. Moscow-based ViraZH ordered 79 nine airplanes in part of a multi-year agreement that will see delivery by the third quarter of 2014.
ViraZH operates flight schools throughout western Russia and the order will give the company one of the world's largest fleets of 172 Skyhawk aircraft in operation.
"This order augments an additional 11 Skyhawks purchased by ViraZH in 2011, highlighting their confidence in our product," said Kriya Shortt, Cessna senior vice president of sales. "It is encouraging to see an increase in both our global customer base and flight training accessibility in Russia."
