Lightspeed Announces 2013 Pilot's Choice Award Finalists
April 11, 2013 - The Lightspeed Aviation Foundation announced 15 aviation charities as finalists for this year's Pilot's Choice Awards at the Sun 'n Fun International Fly-In and Expo in Lakeland, Florida.
Lightspeed has partnered with the pilot community for four years to identify worthy causes and provide financial support, with more than $300,000 in awards.
Award finalists are: Air Race Classic, Angel Flight East, Angel Flight Southeast, Angel Flight West, Civil Air Patrol, International Aerobatic Club, JAARS, Mission Aviation Fellowship, Missionary Flights and Services, New Tribes Mission, Ninety-Nines, Pilots N Paws, Recreational Aviation Foundation, Whirly Girls Scholarship Fund and Youth Aviation Adventure.
Ten of these organizations, as chosen by the aviation community, will receive grants ranging from $2,000-$10,000 each. This year the Pilot's Choice Awards will have two divisions - organizations that have received two or more past grants will compete with in a Senior Finalist Division. The remaining finalists will compete exclusively with each other. This new format will create more opportunities for smaller or emerging organizations to receive Pilot's Choice grants.
