FAA Urges Completion of Annual GA Survey

October 11, 2012 - The FAA is reminding pilots who received a postcard invitation to participate in the 34th annual General Aviation and Part 135 Activity Survey (GA Survey) to complete the survey as soon as possible. The survey deadline is November 30, 2012.

The survey is the only source of comprehensive information on the activities of the GA fleet, including number of hours flown and the purposes for which owners and operators use their aircraft.

Survey results help determine funding for infrastructure and service needs, assess the impact of regulatory changes, and measure aviation safety. The GA Survey is also used to prepare safety statistics and calculate the rate of accidents among GA aircraft.

Postcard invitations to participate in this survey were mailed in late August. Only members who receive a mailing are asked to complete the survey. Respondents may complete the survey online or by mail.

EAA supports the FAA in this GA activity fact-finding survey, and requests members who receive the survey complete it as requested.

Independent research firm Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) is conducting the GA Survey on behalf of the FAA. They are seeking as many survey respondents as possible - even those who did not fly their aircraft during 2011, sold it, or own a damaged/non-airworthy aircraft. Responses are confidential. The information will be used only for statistical purposes and will not be published or released in any form that would reveal an individual participant.

An abbreviated survey form is available for owners of multiple aircraft. If you own three or more aircraft and received several survey forms, please contact SAIC toll-free at 888-672-4493 or e-mail InfoAviationSurvey@faa.gov.
