Jetman Flies Formation With Spitfire
Yves "Jetman" Rossy and the Spitfire Mk. IX MH434 soar over Switzerland.
September 13, 2012 - Yves "Jetman" Rossy has flown his unique four-engine jet wing in formation with Stearmans, L-39s, even a DC-3. Last week he added a classic British warbird to the list: Old Flying Machine Company's famous Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IX, MH434, to that list as he soared with the World War II fighter piloted by Nigel Lamb. A TBM Avenger piloted by Laurent Calame served as photo platform.
The flight took place at the Bex aerodrome near Geneva, Switzerland, during the annual Bex Aeroclub fly-in. Bex also happens to be Rossy's home base.
"To take this occasion to fly in formation with this wonderful machine is an incredible experience," Rossy said. "Since my technology is getting more and more reliable I am very confident about these types of flights. I can relax and enjoy such a fantastic experience. Under my wing I am free, I have the perfect view!"
