Mythbusters to Test Aircraft Duct Tape Repair Job

October 13, 2011 – About two years ago, you might recall the case of the “Alaskan plane mauling” when a bear tore through a Super Cub after being drawn to it by fresh bait that had been unwisely left inside. The pilot arranged to have new tires, sheet plastic, and three cases of duct tape flown in, repaired the aircraft, and flew it out. The Discovery series Mythbusters airs its episode next week testing whether a plane could in fact be repaired to airworthiness with duct tape, using a Belite ultralight. The show runs next Wednesday, October 19, at 9 p.m. EDT, 8 p.m. Central. Click here to view the trailer.
