Sully to Fly Young Eagles on Saturday
September 29, 2011 – Co-Chairman of the EAA Young Eagles program Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger will join fellow EAA pilots from EAA Chapter 663 and provide Young Eagles flights at this weekend’s 16th annual Livermore Airport Open House in California. The first 10 kids ages 8-17 accompanied by an adult who sign up for flights beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday will get a chance to fly with the captain of the 2010 “Miracle on the Hudson” flight. After the flights, Sully will discuss and answer questions from attendees about aviation, careers, and what it takes to become a pilot.
Two air show segments will be held, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 2-2:45 p.m., including performances by Doug Jardine, Jacquie Warda, and Dr. D’s Old-Time Aerobatics. Other attractions include R/C aircraft demos by the Flying Electrons; warbirds on display including P-51, B-25, AT-6/SNJ/Harvard, and T-28; homebuilt, aerobatic, vintage, and other GA aircraft; and helicopters including a CALSTAR medivac and a U.S. Coast Guard Dolphin.
The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
