48th Reno Air Races Start Today
September 14, 2011 – Today marks the start of the 48th Reno National Championship Air Races at Reno, Nevada’s Stead Airport, running through Sunday, September 18. Thousands of spectators are gearing up for five days of racing action by six classes of aircraft, the fastest reaching speeds exceeding 500 mph.
In addition to six classes of air racing, Reno 2011 is a designated Tier 1 event for the Centennial of Naval Aviation (CoNA) celebration.
