Stearman Formation Training Weekend in Oshkosh

August 25, 2011 – If you’re in Oshkosh this weekend, you might see several awesome vintage biplanes flying overhead. Those would be Boeing Stearman World War II trainers, and more than a half- dozen of the vintage warbird biplanes, along with about 20 pilots, will be in Oshkosh for a formation training clinic based at the EAA Aviation Center.
Planes and pilots began to arrive on Thursday, with a pair of two-hour sessions (one morning, one afternoon) planned for both Friday and Saturday. Each day may also include a bonus session from 5-8 p.m., along with one on Sunday morning. Training will be based at Wittman Regional Airport and EAA’s Pioneer Airport.
Pilots will receive instruction and training as they look to improve their skills and enhance their aviation experiences. EAA participants will include President/CEO Rod Hightower and Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs Sean Elliott.
EAA AirVenture Museum visitors can look for the aircraft parked at Pioneer Airport throughout the weekend.
