Terrafugia Adjusts Transition Delivery Schedule
The Terrafugia Transition mock-up was unveiled at AirVenture 2010.
June 10, 2011 — Terrafugia Inc. has announced a delayed delivery date for its Transition roadable aircraft. Blaming third party suppliers and production design challenges, the company says it remains committed to the aircraft development program but that the first delivery would be in late 2012.
In the past year Terrafugia has been constructing two Transition production prototype vehicles while tooling up its production process. The company had announced earlier this year that one of the prototypes would be flying at AirVenture 2011,; however it will not happen this year according to a statement from Terrafugia.
"It remains our goal to show one of the two production prototypes at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, this July, but the vehicle will not be ready to fly at the show,” said Terrafugia CEO/CTO Carl Dietrich.
"Our team continues to be committed to pushing the schedule forward as quickly as possible - particularly as we begin our rigorous testing program,” Dietrich added. “We will continue to focus our efforts on developing the safest, most convenient, and most fun personal aircraft the aviation world has ever seen. I believe that the Transition will be worth the wait.”
