John Vette to Receive Henry Kimberly Leadership Award at EAA Hall of Fame Banquet
October 28, 2010 — John Vette, CEO of SNC Manufacturing Co., Inc., will receive this year’s Henry Kimberly Spirit of Leadership Award for his volunteer efforts on behalf of EAA and the community. Vette will be honored during the EAA Hall of Fame banquet this Friday, October 29, at the EAA Aviation Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Vette, along with his wife Susy, has continued his family’s longtime commitment to EAA by helping develop and grow dynamic programs that facilitate interest in aviation among youth, ranging from the launch of WomenSoar to such events as the Gathering of Eagles fundraiser. Vette’s advice, knowledge of the community and region, and his passion for flight contribute to his effectiveness in his roles on EAA’s Foundation Board of Directors and the Gathering of Eagles Steering Committee.
Along with the award, named for renowned Oshkosh business leader and EAA supporter Henry Kimberly, Vette will receive a $1,000 prize that can be designated toward any of EAA’s programs.
Vette, who owns the property around the EAA AirVenture Seaplane Base along with his sister Burleigh Blust, will be honored along with the 2010 inductees into the EAA Halls of Fame, including Dean Wilson, of Clarkston, Washington (Homebuilders); Morton Lester, of Martinsville, Virginia (Vintage Aircraft Association); John Ballantyne, of Millsboro, Delaware (Ultralight); the late Jimmy Franklin, of Spruce Pine, N.C. (International Aerobatic Club); and the late Hal Weekley of Mabelton, Georgia (Warbirds of America).
Renowned aviation writer and EAA Editor at Large Mac McClellan will prove the keynote address.
A limited number of tickets remain for the dinner and program, which begins with a 6 p.m. reception. Tickets are priced at $50 each, with banquet tables and supporter levels also available. To purchase tickets or for more information, call 800-236-1025.
