Virginia Aviation Council Announces Dates Through 2011
Virginia Regional Festival of Flight commits to three more years at Suffolk
August 21, 2008 — Following its successful debut this year at the Suffolk Executive Airport, the Virginia Aviation Council announced recently it will continue to hold the Virginia Festival of Flight there through 2011. Future dates of the event are May 30-31, 2009; May 22-23, 2010; and May 21-22, 2011.
Gordon Campbell, council president, noted that the facility offered great opportunity for growth. “With the 2008 fly-in under our belt, we have a much better idea of how to utilize these excellent facilities and amazing support from the city and the airport,” he said. “Our focus will be recruiting many more (volunteer) chairmen to plan and coordinate an expanded roster of activities for next year.”
Suffolk Mayor Linda Johnson said the city was honored to serve as the host community for the festival. “More pilots up and down the East Coast are logging Suffolk Executive Airport (SFQ) as their ‘go-to’ FBO for service, amenities, convenience, comfort and value. Our adjacent festival grounds provide a seamless extension for numerous exhibits and the opportunity for even more camaraderie.”
The call is out to potential vendors and exhibitors who wish to participate. Those interested should contact Judy Sparks, fly-in manager, at 703-590-9112 or JHSparks@comcast.net. For more information, visit www.VirginiaFlyIn.org.
