There's More To EAA Skiplane Fly-In Than Just Skiplanes

January 26, 2006 — The unseasonably warm, snowless weather in the Oshkosh area has put a damper on many winter activities, including the annual EAA Skiplane fly-in scheduled at EAA's Pioneer Airport this Saturday, January 28. But while the absence of snow will prevent skiplane operations, EAA will still welcome any and all to come and enjoy chili, fellowship, and good ol' fashioned hangar talk during this traditional midwinter event.

Just don't expect to see any skiplanes.

Two other significant events will also be recognized Saturday: EAA matriarch Audrey Poberezny's birthday and the 53rd anniversary of the first meeting of the Experimental Aircraft Association, which took place on January 26, 1953, at Curtiss-Wright Field, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Pilots can still fly into Wittman Regional Airport on Saturday and take advantage of a free shuttle service to and from Pioneer from Orion and Basler FBOs. The event runs from 8 a.m-5 p.m.
