2011 U.S. National Aerobatic Championships Registration

By Vicky Benzing, Contest Director – U.S. National Aerobatic Championships, for In the Loop

Online registration for the 2011 U.S. National Aerobatic Championships is now open. Contestants and attendees may access the link directly at www.IACUSN.org/acrs/index.php?ctstID=67 or through the official U.S. Nationals website, www.IACUSN.org/Nationals.

The U.S. National Aerobatic Championships will take place at the North Texas Regional Airport (KGYI) in Sherman/Denison, Texas, from September 25 to September 30, with October 1 as a rain date.

As an incentive to get everyone to preregister, if you register on or before September 4, you will receive at registration an embroidered polo shirt in your choice of color and size with the U.S. Nationals logo and your name on it. There will be printed T-shirts at the contest for those that don’t preregister. Read more

The official contest hotels are the Hampton Inn and Comfort Suites in Sherman. The Holiday Inn Express next door in Sherman will be closed during the contest for remodeling. We’re working on a third contest hotel and will post it on the website when an agreement is reached. In the meantime, I encourage you to book a room early as the hotels are filling up.

Hangar parking for your plane is available through the Lake Texoma Jet Center at a cost of $20/day. Space is limited, so the center asks that you preregister through the website: www.TexomaJet.com

Additional parking is available in the large Plyler hangar at a cost of $100 for the week. You can sign up and pay for it at registration.

Cars may be rented directly through Enterprise Rent-A-Car or through the Lake Texoma Jet Center (also Enterprise). The cars will be delivered and picked up at the airport.

A tentative schedule for the contest is posted on the website.

Saturday all day and Sunday morning are official practice days in the box, and you may reserve a 10-minute practice slot on a first-come first-served basis through the registration process. A mandatory briefing for everyone is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon. The first flights for the Advanced category begin shortly thereafter.

This is an Advanced Team selection year. Advanced Team aspirants may vote for their favorite judges through the registration process. The cutoff date for voting is August 11.

Our longtime volunteer coordinator, Ann Salcedo, is back this year, and she asks that all of you sweeties out there please sign up for your favorite volunteer activities as there is no free ride! Many thanks to Ann for her hard work - she makes my job easy.

We will again have a live Twitter feed during the contest to keep everyone informed of late breaking news. Please sign up on Twitter and follow us at http://Twitter.com/USNAcro.

Lastly, we would like to thank our sponsors for their generous contributions to our contest in a very difficult year.
