New EAA Sport Pilot Academy Fast Tracks Training

Three weeks to sport pilot certificate in all-inclusive program

July 27, 2016 - The EAA has unveiled at AirVenture Oshkosh 2016 a new, accelerated route to the Sport Pilot rating, conducted right here on Wittman Field: The Sport Pilot Academy. The Academy offers an all-inclusive in-residence program where attendees can earn a sport pilot certificate in three weeks.

The totally immersive program was created to counter the scheduling conflicts and other distractions that can draw out the flight training process to months or even years, and lead to dropout rates of more than 60 percent. Academy trainees will also enjoy a variety of unique activities that will enhance the training experience and benefit pilot proficiency, including forums with guest speakers and meet-and-greet opportunities with noted aviators and aviation experts, access to the EAA AirVenture Museum and behind-the-scenes tours, flight experience in a variety of EAA aircraft, and an air traffic control tower tour.

The Sport Academy’s certified flight instructors have been specially selected and trained for this program, and their time is dedicated exclusively to students’ training, both in flight and on the ground. The program uses a dedicated fleet of meticulously maintained Cessna 162 Skycatchers, powered by Continental O-200 engines, ensuring trainees are comfortable piloting high-performing aircraft and using modern avionics.

The program also provides access to Sporty’s Online Ground School before arriving in Oshkosh, so attendees can complete the required FAA written test prior to their on-site training. The Academy’s first class commences August 27. Tuition for the all-inclusive program is $9,999.
