Warbirds Flightline Volunteers Gather in Oshkosh
February 4, 2016 - Each year at the end of January, a group of dedicated Warbirds volunteers meet in Oshkosh to discuss AirVenture flightline operations and safety. This group manages the parking and marshaling of warbirds aircraft. This year, more than 50 people from 10 different states met in the PHP Conference Center on Saturday, January 30. It was a productive meeting, recapping AirVenture 2015 and making plans for AirVenture 2016. Section leaders provided reports on the following areas: fighters, bombers, transports, T-6s, T-34s, T-28s, jets, L-Birds, Yaks, CJ-6As, and other support areas. The group was joined by a good portion of the EAA Warbirds of America Board of Directors, which was well-received.
After the meeting, the volunteers joined Zack Baughman from the EAA Museum on a guided tour of the CAF Nose Art Exhibit in the Eagle Hangar. There was even time for crawling into the P-51 Mustang and Mosquito for photos. Overall, it was a productive, enjoyable weekend for the Warbirds Flightline Volunteers. Hats off to all those dedicated volunteers who participated in this annual event.
