Trevor Janz Rearranging Chairs on the Titanic or Taking Action?
By Trevor Janz, EAA 656941

"I am 67 years old and I am the youngest member of my chapter," said a chapter president to me the other day. It is a fact that our chapters are growing older. Chapters that are not growing are slowly dying. Are you addressing the issue, or simply spending time arranging the chairs on the Titanic as it slowly sinks? Read more >>

Chapter Leaders Annual Breakfast at Oshkosh
By Trevor Janz, EAA 656941

Each year we like to thank those chapter members who have stepped up to leadership roles within their chapter. We do this by hosting a breakfast buffet on Saturday morning, August 3, held in the EAA Founders' Wing at the museum.

Doors open at 7:30 a.m. and breakfast is served at 8 a.m. Jeff Skiles, EAA vice president of EAA Communities and Member Programs, is the keynote speaker, then emcees a special awards ceremony for the Chapter Newsletter Editor, Web Editor, and Major Achievement awards.

We decided this year to present just one award per category due to the lack of entries. We will survey all chapter leaders after this year's convention to ask their opinion about how to move forward with the annual chapter awards program.

At this time, the breakfast has reached its maximum capacity of 275 people. If you are coming and have not made your RSVP, please contact me via e-mail.

For those of you who cannot make the breakfast, we will miss having you join us. Because of you, we can achieve great things as an organization, and for that we thank you!

Chapters Pavilion Stop By the Chapters/Young Eagles Pavilion
As many of you know, this year at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh we have a special place for our chapter members and Young Eagles volunteers - an 80-by-80-foot pavilion on Celebration Way and Knapp Street, right on the main drag heading toward Phillips 66 Plaza.

We wanted a place where chapter members and volunteers could have a seat, get some ice-cold water, recharge their phones and bodies by the Cool Space cooler, and talk with other chapter members from all over. After all, this is your convention, and we want to thank you for all that you do for EAA and general aviation.

We also invite you to stop by and place a marker where your chapter is located on our big map, which will be on display at the Chapters/Young Eagles Pavilion throughout the convention.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
