It's an exciting time of year here at the chapter office, with many new chapter leaders contacting us for the first time, asking for tips and ideas on how to successfully grow their chapters. Hangar Painting Project
By Henry Hartman, President of EAA Chapter 1041
As most all chapters do, EAA Chapter 1041 (aka The Gettysburg Barnstormers) takes great pride in its home airport. It's where we hold our popular pancake breakfast fly-ins, monthly meetings, and other gatherings. So when a few of our members noticed identifying markings on some hangars and buildings at other airports, it got us thinking: Pennsylvania's Gettysburg Regional Airport was missing something! The IRS has been simplifying the process of filing the 990-N e-Postcards over the last several years. Now once your chapter is in the IRS system, it only requires a few minutes to complete the form. Promoting Your Chapter at an Event
By Brenda Anderson, Chapter Administrator, EAA 650581
Your chapter worked hard to organize that fly-in, and the weather was bright and clear. Slowly, people began to arrive and check out the planes, eat a pancake or two, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere at the hangar. What a perfect day, you thought, but did you ever think about the opportunities you may have missed to promote your chapter? Read more >>

'Fly One' Quarter-page Ad
Who introduced you to flying? On May 18 during International Learn to Fly Day, we are asking all chapters to pay it forward by introducing at least one adult to aviation with an EAA Eagle Flight. Think about it: If every chapter stepped up to the challenge, nearly 1,000 adults would be one step closer to joining our community of aviators. To help spread the message, EAA created this quarter-page ad to include in your chapter's newsletter or on your website. Get image >>

Getting Young People Involved
How can we get young people involved in our chapters? That question was originally posed by Chapter 878's president, Tom Rammel, in his chapter's newsletter, The Maple Lake Flyer, and one that we posed on the EAA Forums earlier last month. We received some great feedback, with readers addressing everything from advertising at your local chapter to reaching out to nearby universities. Has your chapter had success with recruiting younger members? Do you have a great idea you'd like to share? Join the conversation!
