Memo Signed With Boy Scouts, Learning For Life Programs
I was in Irving, Texas, recently to meet with the leaders of the Boy Scouts of America as well as the Exploring/Learning For Life programs. While I was there, I signed a Memorandum of Understanding with those two groups to work together to provide exposure to aviation-related experiences and careers through EAA programs. EAA has long worked with individual Boy Scouts and troops on aviation merit badge activities, both here in Oshkosh and through local EAA chapters, but potential exists to expand this to a national level. Learning For Life is a school-based program for boys and girls ages pre-school through 14, while Exploring – including Aviation Explorers – is for young people ages 14-21. There are numerous possibilities for collaboration between our organizations as we expand Young Eagles to create the next generation of aviators.
Other EAA Staff on the Road
Recently, Vice President of Industry and Regulatory Affairs Sean Elliott was in Washington, D.C., to participate in meetings with the FAA, while Vice President of Government Relations Doug Macnair represented EAA in the FAA's aviation fuels committee meeting. ... Youth Programs Manager Brian O'Lena was in West Bend, Wisconsin, on November 16 to meet members of Chapter 1158 and discuss youth aviation programs. That chapter has a very active youth program.
AirVenture 2011 DVD Nearly Ready for Release
The always-anticipated AirVenture retail DVD, the annual review of the highlights each summer at Oshkosh, has been completely edited and is on its way for duplication. The DVD, produced from the hundreds of hours of footage shot at AirVenture, will then be available through the EAA AirVenture Museum gift shop as well as through our catalog and online shopping area.

Weeks Hangar Welcomes Students From Northern Michigan University
A special thanks goes our to Chapter 850 (Marquette, Michigan) for organizing a volunteer group comprised of aircraft technician students from Northern Michigan University that pitched in at Weeks Hangar recently. This group volunteered for various projects on our aircraft. We have welcomed similar groups here in the past, as the experience gives students a variety of real-world experiences while supplying some welcome volunteers at EAA.
