EAA Chapter Social Activities
Bringing People Together
Why do people join Chapters and Squadrons? The reasons are varied but the one common thread is the wish to enjoy the friendship of others that have a common interest in aviation. Flying, Friendship, Food, Family and Fun (the 5 F's) are found in all of the Chapters and permeate many of the social activities that Chapters do.
Annual holiday parties, fly-ins, ice cream socials, family picnics, airport open houses, hangar dances and more can be found happening around the country on each and every weekend throughout the year. Hangar flying is always one of the primary activities at each of these social functions. You'll hear stories from WWII veterans, new pilots, old pilots and aviation leaders entertaining all that will listen of their tales behind the controls from everything from J3 Cub to a World War II Bomber.
Families are encouraged to join Chapters to participate in all of the family events that include such things as fly-ins, picnics, work parties, outreach programs and more. Aviation crosses the generation gap and allows everyone in the family to get involved.
