Jack Tiffany
(10/20/2012)
Jack Tiffany, 72, of Spring Valley, Ohio, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012.
Jack served his country in the 2nd and 11th U.S. Army Special Forces groups. As a Green Beret and an accomplished skydiver with more than 3,000 jumps, he became the first human to fly in a vertical wind tunnel at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in 1964. Tiffany, a skilled machinist, supervised the model fabrication shop for the Air Force Institute of Technology and aided the Air Force in top secret experimental prototypes until he retired in 1995 after 30 years of service.
He was an internationally renowned, award-winning aircraft restorer as head of Leading Edge Aircraft, along with his partners Herman and Jerry Leffew, Don Siefer, and Jerry Pruden. Their masterpiece was the completion of a 10-year-long restoration of a 1932 Pitcairn PA-18 Autogiro.
In death, Tiffany joins his parents, Jack and Louise Tiffany. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Catherine McCabe Tiffany, children Nick Hurm and Kate Ro, granddaughter Lainie Ro, and all of his wonderful friends, family and numerous pets.

Jack was a very talented, and genuinely nice, guy. He will be missed by local (Dayton area) aviators.
