Stewart Perry Albright
(03/28/1920 - 09/23/2009)
Stewart Perry Albright was born in Kossuth County, Iowa, to Quinn and Minnie Albright. He was baptized in the Presbyterian Church of Burt, Iowa.
The family moved to Des Moines, Iowa, when he was a young child. He attended public schools and graduated from high school in 1937. He attended Ames College and participated in the Civilian Pilot Training Program, receiving his pilot certificate.
Stewart enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1941 and was assigned to Troop Carrier Command flying C-46 Curtiss Commando aircraft and instructing other pilots and students. He later flew P-51 fighter aircraft for the Iowa National Guard.
After leaving the Guard in 1946, Stewart remained a professional pilot and flight instructor. He owned a fixed base operation in Algona, Iowa, from 1963 to 1958. From 1958 to 1977 he worked as a corporate pilot for the Gardner Denver Corporation. He later moved to Grant, Nebraska, to instruct and fly for Trego Aviation and the Barrett Corporation. He settled in Phoenix, Arizona, where he instructed for Cutter Aviation’s Beech Aero Club.
Stewart Albright is survived by his wife, Margery Hendricks Albright, daughter Cathy Albright Nicholson, son Lindy Hoyt Albright, grandson Matthew Perry Nicholson, sister-in-law Gerry and her husband Elmer Pankonin, five nephews, three nieces, and many dear friends.
Stewart belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Algona, Iowa, and was a member of the Consistory, Shrine, and the Grace Whipple Chapter of the Eastern Star in Quincy, Illinois. He was also a member of Frank Price’s Tiger Club, was member number 185 in the Experimental Aircraft Association, belonged to the American Legion Post 40, and was a Chicago Cub fan his whole life.
The remains will be placed in the family burial plot in Morning View Cemetery at Wallace, Nebraska.

I only knew Stu a little but thought he was a pretty good guy. Wish I could have heard more of his stories - I'm sure he had plenty to tell.
